A teacher's aide at a Staten Island high school had a torrid love affair with one of her students that culminated in her resignation, an investigation revealed.
Dina Casaliggi fell in love with the student at Susan E. Wagner High School in Staten Island, and later admitted to a colleague she’d had sex with him in her car and at her home when her husband was away, an investigation by the Department of Education found.

Documents from the agency’s Special Commissioner of Investigation, obtained by the Daily News through a Freedom of Information Law request, revealed the relationship lasted for 18 months. The NYPD also investigated. At the time of the police investigation, which took place concurrently with the Special Commissioner of Investigation’s probe and ended in October, the student was 19 years old, a police source said.

Though it was not clear when the alleged dalliance began, Casaliggi, a 38-year-old mother of two, was not charged with statutory rape.

She resigned from her $35,040-a-year job in September 2013 — five months after she had a breakdown at school and confessed to a staffer that she was worried her husband would discover a video of her and the teen having sex, according to the documents.

The documents also cite as evidence a 2012 photo of the teen lying on Casaliggi’s nude chest, and a love letter written “to my baby boi and signed “Dina.”

Casaliggi also opened a cell phone account for her teen lover, the documents note.
In a phone interview with the Daily News, a furious Casaliggi said she previously had “a friendship” with the teen, but she denied the relationship was of a sexual nature.
“I had a friendship with a student who was not underage,” she said. “I didn’t have any criminal action against me. This, to me, isn’t news at all.”

There was no sex in the house or car, or any of that stuff,” she added, noting she is going through a divorce.
Casaliggi said she had enemies at the school who concocted a story that she had an affair.
There were people I didn’t get along with at the school who wanted me to not be there,” she said.
Casaliggi admitted to having swapped two to three text messages a day with the student, but said she was only acting as his mentor, according to the documents. She also told investigators the teen had once babysat her children and that her husband knew him.

The student admitted to investigators that he had a relationship with Casaliggi, but insisted it occurred after he graduated from high school, according to the documents, which do not include his name.

The teen’s father said he became suspicious when Casaliggi started tutoring his son — yet never gave the father updates on the boy’s academic progress, the documents state.
Casaliggi’s affair didn’t run afoul of the law — but she did get arrested in February of this year after she punched her husband, Christopher Michael, 35, in the mouth and scratched his neck inside their home, a police spokesman said.
Casaliggi said she has since moved out of state.
